Cost Cutting Measures Spells Unemployment For Many

We break regular programming to bring you this piece of gloomy news. It looks like even industry giants AMD, SanDisk and Motorola aren't spared from the tough times that this global economic slowdown has brought upon us. Since the start of November (or rather, over the past week), each of these companies have announced that they will be exercising their own versions of "strategic cost cutting measures". Of course we all know that in plain English a phrase like, "strategic cost cutting measures," is unfortunately a sugar coated way of saying "lay offs".
Here's the casualty list so far:

November 6 - Axe falls again at AMD, 500 more employees laid off.
November 6 - SanDisk likely to cut 15% of staff as it downsizes.
It's not a nice thing to say, but we have a gut feeling that this isn't going to be the end of November's lay off announcments.
