Posting in English

While I can read Chinese reasonably well and know some PinYin, the sad fact is that I often refrain from posting in Chinese because I wouldn't be able to communicate my ideas. This has led me to not post much unless its a topic I care deeply about or if I know the reader understands the language.

This got me to thinking and I came to the realization that this won't change any time soon because like it or not, we are the minority here.

May I suggest that we start some posts here in this section where we might include videos/novels/others that we have seen on the other parts forum that are of interest and put them here. We won't post the actual content here, but maybe provide a link to it and do reviews and such so at least like minded people can get some decent discussion going. It shouldn't take up much resources as we'll only be linking the thread of interest and not the content itself. Over time, we might even make it trendy for more english posters to get active on the boards. This would be good for all of us

My concern is that with our strict forum rules, I don't even know if this is allowed, much less encouraged.

Any ideas?

I think your advice will be allowed! If you think it's interesting you can link it here~it means "Ϊ" in China! If you hold high the great banner of Deng Xiaoping Theory anything will be allowed in China! HaHa I just make a joke!

I personally think the poster may misunderstand the ultimate purpose of this Forum - English and Multi Languages Section. It is obviously not intended to open various sites or areas for posting videos and photos or the like. It is a place for the participants to air their ideas or discuss some issues they are facing.

After all, this forum is not an assessment of the standard of English, so no one will tease you if you write poorly. As a matter of fact, it is an excellent place for you to brush up your English. Why? Just look at the English standard of most of the Aminstrators in this forum. Their command of English is a good model for the beginners to study and learn.

Of course, it will be perfect if all the forums in SIS will allow the viewers to reply or comment EITHER in English OR in Chinese without any punishment.

well, SIS allows viewers to reply in English without any punishments.
in fact, i saw lots of viewers were replying in English.
nevertheless, the rules r still applied, the words must be more than 10 words, copying is not allowed, etc.

Many thanks for Xing369, the Moderator's response.

I am very glad I am finally confirmed by one of the Chief Administrators that we can reply in English in All forums. I have been asking for clarifications of this issue for many days. It is until to-day that I have received the kind confirmation from you.

I am so panic becuase two days ago many of my gold coins had been scratched when I replied in English in the Adult Novel Area which saying since I could read Chinese, I must reply in Chinese.

Now your excellent confirmation has given me a great relief.

Thanks a lot

for the article forum, which they may have different respective rules. since I never been there, I am not very sure.
by right, shouldn't deduct repliers' coin, if the repliers didn't make any faulty attempts.
by left :P, sad to say, some admins may respond variously, it really depends. the best practice is, u can try to contact the admin there to clarify what r the DOs & DON'Ts.

in sum, communication is very important...

Thanks so much for your kind reply.

Your valuable advice is highly appreciated.

But surprised to see there are no centralised guidelines of SIS for all the administrators managing different forums. If there is a very clear cut imformation given to all the viewers that no punishment will be given provided they reply more than 10 sensible English words at ANY forum they visit, then there will not be so many misunderstandings.

We need a Chief Commander (Administrator), don't we?

SIS does have the core guidelines.
but different ppl perceive and apply it differently.

As for Chief Admin, there are several.

TOP

thanks. but what we request is the Chief Administrator can govern all the other sub administrators so that they will not have their own sets of rules and regulations. because it will make the viewers comfused.

there are Chief Admins to oversee the operations...

nevertheless, that's beyond my scope...
